If you’d like to receive alerts from the Grant County Sheriff on your cellphone, text GCSHERIFF to 888777. The alerts cover things from traffic diversions to criminal activity and wildfire danger. For wildfire evacuation notices it’s important to understand the “Level” alerts used by Grant County. They are defined as follows:
LEVEL 1: There is currently no immediate danger, but residents should be aware of a nearby fire or threat. Residents should review (or quickly prepare) their evacuation plan and gather items needed if evacuation is necessary. People should make plans to move livestock or pets.
LEVEL 2: Indicates there’s a significant risk in the area. A mandatory evacuation could be issued at any time. Residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside the area.
LEVEL 3: There’s IMMEDIATE DANGER in the area and residents need to leave now. During evacuations, sheriff’s deputies will attempt to go door-to-door to notify residents to leave.
The Fire Marshall has told us that in the event immediate wildfire evacuation is necessary, North and South Park residents should evacuate to the golf course.
